Wombat Hills Cottages, Barwite

Wombat Hills is a peaceful retreat in a stunning mountain location. The first thing you'll notice is the eagle's eye view of rolling hills to blue mountains right across the horizon. The jetty on our private lake is an ideal place to unwind and enjoy the scenery. Borrow a fishing rod and see if the trout will accept your invitation to dinner. If not, console yourself with drinks in the gazebo built over the lake and wait for another glorious mountain sunset reflected in the water.
There are two romantic cottages, Fern and Snowgum, which are designed especially for couples. If you want to bring friends or family Rose cottage is ideal. The three stone cottages are nestled amongst acres of beautiful gardens where there are several quiet nooks to sit with a cuppa and admire the scenery. You might spot a kangaroo in the bush gully and you'll be amazed at the number of birds. The parrots will come almost within reach and even the notoriously shy Satin Bower bird has built his bower behind the roses where he proudly displays our "missing" blue clothes pegs.
It's easy to lose track of time as you laze in the hammocks on your verandah watching the light change over the valleys below. Inside, the cottages feature natural materials like stone, timber and slate with plenty of glass to make the most of the views.
